Dangerous Dave

Martin T was talking about David at St Marks this morning. You can read the story in 1 Samuel 22. For part of David’s career at least, it was dangerous to be his mate. You wouldn’t be popular with the mainstream, and you might even wind up dead. Likewise, if you are a friend of Jesus, you are not going to be terribly popular, and in some times and places you might get badly hurt or even killed. David said ” Stay with me: do not be afraid, for he who seeks my life, seeks your life. With me you shall be in safekeeping” (I Sam. 22.23). Jesus says much the same to his followers.
